Long before engineering and mixing became the center of his professional life, Dave was a musician, composer and songwriter. That musical foundation has remained an essential part of how he approaches every project—hearing the music first, and the technology second.
His work as a composer and songwriter has ranged from television and film scores to R&B, jazz and independent projects, often bringing together writing, arranging, performing and production.
HBO — OZ
Dave composed and produced music for all six seasons of HBO’s Oz, creating original score for the groundbreaking series throughout its run.
Working closely with the show’s creative team, Dave developed music that could move between tension, atmosphere, rhythm and emotion while serving the dramatic world of the series.
He also performed extensively on the score, drawing on the musician’s instincts that have informed his work throughout his career.

Leave a Message was a particularly personal project for Dave. After years of working on their records, many of the artists and musicians who appeared on the album were happy to turn the tables—contributing their talents to his project.
Produced by Dave and co-composed with Klaus Mueller, the album brought together longtime friends and collaborators in a different setting, reflecting the musical relationships Dave had built over many years.
